I studied Islamic Studies and history in Bern (MA 2012, PhD 2018), spending time in Damascus, Beirut, Cairo and Esfahan for language courses, research stints and internships. From 2018, I worked as an analyst for the Swiss federal police until returning to academia as a postdoc in October 2023. My book on the Lebanese philosopher Nassif Nassar (published by Velbrück in 2019), which is based on my doctoral dissertation, received the “Philosophy Book Award” (Philosophischer Buchpreis) from the Hannover Institute for Philosophical Research, Germany, in 2020. I have also received training as a writing coach from the PH Freiburg i. Br. (not yet completed).

My research interests include the modern intellectual history of the MENA region (with a focus on the history of philosophy), philosophies of Islamic law, political philosophy, and the modern history of Lebanon.
