We are looking forward to receiving your application to study at our Institute in the framework of the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP). In order to be able to participate, there must be an exchange agreement between the University of Bern and your home university. Please see the partner universities and the responsible coordinators here. The mobility coordinators at the Institute will be happy to provide further advice.

After you have been nominated by your home university, we ask you to register using this form. The deadlines for registration are April 30th for the fall term and September 30th for the spring term. For further information on registration, see here.

To fund your study abroad in Switzerland you will receive a grant from the Swiss government. The amount will depend on your university’s country of origin and the time scheduled for the stay. By applying for the University of Bern you will automatically apply for the grant. Additional information on grants can be found here.

  • In order to organize your studies at the University of Bern, such as the registration of courses, the grading system and the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), please consult the online information page.
  • In addition, you will find helpful information there on German and English language courses provided in the framework of SEMP.
  • We very much recommend you participate in the Introduction Week at the beginning of term in order to have the chance to get to know Bern and its University early on.

If you would like to study at the University of Bern without an existing agreement, an application as a visiting student would be possible. Please see here for more information.
