Outgoing

Based on an agreement between the University of Bern and the university at which you would like to study abroad, it would be possible to apply after a completed first year in your BA or one semester of your MA studies/after having studied a BA at Bern.

Regarding specific (language) requirements, please contact the mobility coordinators at the Institute two semesters in advance.

  • The registration deadline for both the following fall and/or spring semester is March 1st.
  • Starting in mid-November it will be possible to register on our Online-Portal.
  • Please submit your application documents, together with our transcript of record and a motivation letter, to the Institute’s mobility coordinators. They will decide on your nomination based on your academic performance.
  • Toward the end of March/early April you will be informed whether you have been nominated. Please register in time at your host university (consulting the mobility website there). Please do check also our Mobility-Online page, since many host universities share a factsheet containing this information.
  • To prepare the credit transfer, please fill in the learning agreement with the courses to be attended at your host university and submit it to the mobility coordinators for signature before leaving.
  • Upon return, please fill in the field report on Mobility-Online.

Please consult the following page for further information on the registration process, preparing the travel, and the learning agreement.

  • During your stay abroad, you will continue to be registered at the University of Bern and also pay the tuition fees here. However, there will be no tuition fees at the host university.
  • Your application automatically contains the application for the grant as well. The amount will be determined based on the time you will spend abroad, ranging from 1330 to 3880 CHF (up to 3 months, 1330 CHF; up to 7 months, 1990 CHF; more than 7 months, up to 3800 CHF) for the period 2021/22.
  • The grant is reserved for funding travel costs, living expenses and language instruction.

For further information on the grant see on the webpage of the International Office (UniBE International).

Should there be no agreement between the University of Bern and the European university you would like attend, there is still the chance to realize this on your own initiative. The mobility coordinators at the Institute will be happy to provide further advice. For further information, please see here.
